Kulen Mountain and Banteay Srei temple

Kulen Mountain Range: In the morning, we will embark on a drive through the typical Khmer countryside towards the revered Kulen Mountain range. These mountains provided the stones that were used to construct the magnificent Angkor temples. As we ascend, we will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. Our vehicle will navigate a steep dirt road to reach the mountaintop.

Once there, we will first encounter the Lingas, which are carvings in the riverbed created by successive kings of the Angkor period. Continuing on our walk, we will come across a massive natural rock formation with a grand reclining Buddha carved into it. The journey will also lead us to a captivating waterfall, so be sure to bring your swimsuits and join in the fun with the locals! Above the waterfall, you can discover more carvings in the riverbed.

This location is immensely popular among the Khmer people, who come here to enjoy their weekends with picnics and relaxation.

Lunch at a typical local restaurant

Then, you will embark on a scenic drive out of Siem Reap and into the lush countryside of Cambodia, which will take approximately an hour to get to the first stop of the day, Banteay Srei, a stunning red sandstone temple from the 10th century, known for its intricate carvings of Hindu gods and its beautiful pink hue.

Next, you will visit a nearby village where you can witness the traditional way of producing palm sugar, which is a sweetener made from the sap of the palms that grow in Southeast Asia. You will have the chance to interact with locals, learn from them, and gain insights into their daily lives.

You will continue your exploration of Angkor at Banteay Samre temple, located in a less crowded place, provides a peaceful atmosphere and stunning photo opportunities.
