Embark on Cambodia’s most scenic drive from Phnom Penh to Mondolkiri, a province known for its diverse hill tribes and stunning landscapes. Drive through picturesque Kompong Cham and visit the largest rubber plantation in the country, established by Michelin during the French colonial era. Continue to Snuol for lunch at a local restaurant. From there, drive to Sen Monorom, the charming provincial capital of Mondolkiri, known for its unique scenery and climate. Check-in at the hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the surrounding hill tribe villages and beautiful waterfalls.

Enjoy dinner and an overnight at the hotel

After breakfast at the hotel, leave Sen Monorom and join the Elephant Valley Project. This project, with the support of the Bunong villagers, rescues and treats domestic elephants who have suffered injury and abuse. Experience a unique ‘Walking with the Herd for a day’ program where you will be introduced to the elephants and learn more about their history, character, behavior, and body language. Walk alongside them in their natural environment, feed them bananas, and watch them enjoy mud baths. After lunch, undertake a walking trek with the elephants through the stunning Mondulkiri countryside to a waterfall for a refreshing swim and elephant bath.

Return to Sen Monorom in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel. In the early morning, visit the local market where Phnong people from nearby villages come to trade with their distinctive baskets. Afterward, drive about 40 km northeast from Sen Monorom to visit Bou Sra waterfall, one of the largest and most impressive in Cambodia. Enjoy a packed lunch at the site and admire the scenic countryside as you drive back, passing by hill tribe villages.

Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel

After breakfast at the hotel, leave Sen Monorom and drive to Kratie via Snuol. Arrive in Kratie around lunchtime and check-in at the hotel. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, take a city tour of this small provincial town known for its sumptuous colonial architecture. Visit Wat Phnom Sambok, a hilltop temple complex with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Then, head further north to the best riverside vantage point to view the rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins, which can be seen in the late afternoon. Drive back to Kratie and take a small ferry boat to Koh Trong Island, situated in the middle of the Mekong River. Enjoy dinner at the hotel and an overnight stay at Rajabori Villas, a charming accommodation with only 10 rooms on Koh Trong Island.

After breakfast at the hotel, take a ferry ride back to Kratie and drive through Snuol, passing rubber plantations, to Kompong Cham. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the 12th-century Wat Nokor Pagoda, which combines ancient temple ruins with a modern-style pagoda. Continue the journey to Phnom Penh via Prek Kdam. If time permits, drive to Udong and visit the various temples. Finally, head back to Phnom Penh and transfer to your hotel or the airport.
